Description

The Web Designer is responsible for managing the design and front-end development for all Brighter Planet websites. This position will work closely with the back-end programming staff and senior management to ensure quality, timely updates to the website. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Translate new concepts into visual mockups and presentations.
  • Design UI, artwork and content for Brighter Planet’s websites and related web applications.
  • Translate designs into production-ready, cross-browser CSS/HTML
  • Keep abreast of emerging web technologies to optimize the established goals of the Brighter Planet websites.
  • Analyze website traffic and formalize design strategies to address potential problem areas.
  • Provide cross-browser testing

Job Requirements

  • Three years minimum experience with web design and development
  • In-depth knowledge of web usability and demonstrated experience in designing and developing rich user interfaces
  • Expertise in HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX and XML
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Visio or other similar tools.
  • Solid understanding of browser compatibility issues.
  • Ability to multitask and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Proven track record in a fast paced, high-energy team environment

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience with Flash or Air
  • Familiarity with Ruby on Rails or a similar framework.
  • Knowledge of website tracking and analytics (Google Analytics)
  • Experience with Information Architecture
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
