#27: Buy green power.
About 70% of the electricity produced in the U.S. comes from burning fossil fuels. Only 2.4% comes from non-hydro renewable sources like solar, wind, and geothermal. Electricity generation is responsible for 34% of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.
You can help encourage the shift to renewable energy—and lower your personal carbon footprint—by purchasing “green” power from your local utility or a competitive electricity marketer.
