Why have a diverse project portfolio?
Climate change is a complicated challenge, and we need to address it with every tool available. A diverse project portfolio lets us maximize our environmental, economic, and educational impact.
One of the roles of carbon offset projects is to help bring clean new technologies to market, so we want to prove the viability of diverse technologies in multiple locations. That’s why we support cow power facilities and wind turbines, from Colorado to Pennsylvania to Minnesota.
Having a diverse portfolio also means we can support many small-scale community projects instead of just a few large-scale projects. This allows us to maximize the number of communities and family farms that benefit from our investments.
Diversity also promotes security. As with financial investments, supporting a variety of carbon offset projects reduces the risk associated with failure of a single project.
