What’s your strategy for climate change?

Brighter Planet believes in a comprehensive strategy for solving the problems of climate change. There is no silver bullet, and we can all do our part. Carbon offsets are an important part of an overall strategy to build a sustainable society. As Schuchard and Stewart of Business for Social Responsibility put it:

Consider offsets as one investment among a broader, diversified portfolio of strategic bets to mitigate and potentially adapt to climate change.

Professor Robert Socolow of Princeton University and his colleagues have defined a strategy called “"sustainability wedges":http://links.brighterplanet.com/socolow_wedges” that aims to prevent dangerous climate change using available technologies. Renewable energy sources like the wind farms and farm methane abatement projects that Brighter Planet members help build are at the heart of the “Alternative Energy Sources” section.
