The projects you help build

When you use your Brighter Planet Visa Check Card, you help build a geographically and technologically diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects that reduce carbon emissions. The carbon offsets created when you use your Brighter Planet Visa Check Card:

  • are created through the construction and operation of U.S. renewable energy projects (such as wind turbines, farm methane, and solar panels).
  • come from projects approved by the Brighter Planet Project Selection Committee.
  • meet the requirements of our Carbon Offset Policy, created with guidance from industry experts and the Brighter Planet Advisory Board.

NativeEnergy logoBrighter Planet’s current exclusive supplier of these premium offsets is NativeEnergy, the only US provider recommended by Tufts University's comprehensive report and one of only three US firms to receive Clean Air-Cool Planet's top rating (A Consumers’ Guide to Retail Carbon Offset Providers, Clean Air–Cool Planet, 2006).
