Jonathan Isham

Co-founder, Brighter Planet and Luce Professor of International Environmental Economics at Middlebury College. His Brighter Planet responsibilities include chairing the Project Selection Committee and engaging environmental thought leaders. His collaborative work with Middlebury students and others focuses on building the climate-change movement, with classes such as ‘Focus the Nation’, ‘Building the New Climate Movement’ and ‘The Scientific and Institutional Challenges of Becoming Carbon Neutral’. He is an advisor to Al Gore’s Climate Project, Focus the Nation, 1Sky, the Presidential Climate Action Project, Climate Counts and the Vermont Governor’s Commission on Climate Change. His book Ignition: What you Can Do to Fight Global Warming and Spark a Movement, co-edited with Sissel Waage, was published in 2007. A graduate of Harvard College and a returned Peace Corps volunteer, he received an MA in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland.
